Equip Update

View online

16th July 2026

Dear Guest,

As we enter the quiet beauty of Winter—a season that invites reflection, stillness, and a renewed attentiveness to God’s presence—we’re reminded that worship is not only spoken but lived, felt, and seen. As Christians we have embraced symbols of light in darkness, warmth in cold, and hope in waiting, allowing these signs to deepen our faith. In this spirit, our upcoming course, Using Symbolism in Worship, will explore how posture, movement, colour, and other non-verbal expressions can enrich our shared worship.

By attending to the languages beyond words, we open ourselves more fully to God’s subtle movements among us and discover fresh ways to engage our hearts and imaginations.

The Equip Hub Team

Using symbolism in worship

This session will explore a broad range of non-verbal expressions in worship, including posture, movement, visual images, colour and symbolic actions. We will reflect on common non-verbal languages and consider ways to enrich people’s engagement in corporate worship.

This session will be led by Rob Harrison, Matt Ford & Philip Morton.

Monday 5th January 2026, 7pm – 9pm, St Stephens Church, Canley, Coventry

In a Divided World, What Can I Do?

Today the world seems more and more divided. This is true at a global level, but also in our communities and even in our churches. In this video, Revd. Canon Kate Massey discusses what we can do as Christians in these challenging times to promote understanding and bring about positive change.

Upcoming Courses & Events

Click the titles of any of the below courses and events to read more about it.

Children and Church

Children are not just the future of the church, they are also the present church. For children in our church (and those who haven’t come along yet), it is really important to consider how they are part of the life of the whole church.

During this session we will cover key areas such as having relevant (and manageable) worship provision, the importance of rhythms, spaces for their voice to be heard and opportunities for relationship. These will also be discussed from your starting point so come as you are to learn and share.

This session will be led by Anna Naish.

Thursday 15th January 2026, 7pm – 9pm, Nuneaton

Children and Home

Faith is about our whole lives not just about Sunday mornings at church or Tuesday nights at Messy church. Yet, parents, grandparents and other carers do not always feel confident in talking about faith, praying or worshipping together.

This session will help you think about your ministry space (church, schools, community etc) and how you can help families to take faith home, to share with one another and to grow in confidence. There may be big things to consider, but often small actions and changes can have a big impact!

This session will be led by Anna Naish

Thursday 5th February 2026, 7pm – 9pm,St Nicolas Church, Nuneaton

Stages of Life

As we grow and age we face different joys and challenges at various stages of our lives. Many of these things are the same regardless of the generation you were born into. From learning to talk, to teenage independence, from first job to retirement. But these shared stages are impacted by the time you are living in…being 40 in 2025 is different to being 40 in 1995.

This course, which will be led by Anna Naish, helps us to think about the different stages of life today (and to reflect on our own experiences).

There are two sessions, each focussing on different stages. You can register for one or both sessions.

  • Saturday 7th March – Childhood into early adulthood
  • Saturday 25th April – Adulthood

Time: 10am-4pm (please bring your own lunch)

Venue: St Paul’s Church, Foleshill Road, Coventry, CV6 5AJ

Using liturgy in worship

This session will explore the use of liturgy, both in its formal Anglican sense and in a broader perspective. We will consider how established liturgies can be a living expression of Christian worship, and explore techniques for developing bespoke liturgies for particular contexts.

This session will be led by Rob Harrison, Matt Ford & Philip Morton.

Monday 2nd February, 7pm – 9pm, St James Fletchamstead

Preparing a sermon

Preaching is about more than the time we are talking but takes time, prayer and planning before hand.

This session will be full of practical guidance on how to shape a theme, structure a sermon, make appropriate notes, and prepare yourself for preaching.

This session will be led by Rob Harrison.

Tuesday 3rd March, 7pm – 9pm, St Michael’s Church, Bishop’s Itchington

The Difference course

his course focuses on three habits: Be Curious; Be Present; and Reimagine. In the sessions it does this by reflecting on biblical stories, a recent story and creating space to include how our own story and experiences shape our thinking. These habits can have an impact on our everyday lives & relationships and affect how we relate to people and the life of the communities that we’re part off.

This course will be led by Anna Naish.

Wednesday 15th April – Wednesday 20th May 2026, 7:30pm – 9pm, Zoom and Online
