Dear Guest,

Our Young Leader’s Pathway is starting this week.

What was your first experience of leadership? How old were you? How did it feel?

When I was a young person in leadership I sometimes felt unheard, and that my opinion wasn’t worth as much as that of the older people. But there were other times when I felt genuinely listened to and valued.

We need to hear and value the insights of our young people. We need leaders of all ages. Of course, these particular young people will mature and their perspectives will change. But they will be replaced by further generations of passionate and clear thinking young adults. The insight of young minds will always be important.

This week, when you encounter young people, consider what you might learn from them, and value those things that they can see clearly, which, for you, may now be clouded by complexity.

Take the opportunity to be encouraging to them. And, if you sense that they may find it empowering to join this Pathway … why not mention it?

Young Leaders Pathway

This newly launched Pathway is specifically for people under 30. Not because their ministry is different but because it is often a time of change, growth and exploration in many areas of life; so we have tailored a Pathway for this stage.

Pathways are a combination of learning, training and formation to help you feel more equipped and confident in the places God has called you to at work, at church and in your local community it is open to anyone who is actively involved in OR exploring that ministry.

Upcoming Courses & Events

Click the titles of any of the below courses and events to read more about it.

Writing a Eulogy

A eulogy is an emotional part of a funeral service. It is the part where we share about the person who has died and who they were during their lifetime. It can feel daunting to write one whether you knew the person well or whether you only knew of them once they had died.

This session will be led by Anne Richards and Jo King. Anne and Jo both have a lot of experience of leading funerals and writing eulogies. They will be sharing their experiences to help you think about how to ask the right questions and to write a personalised eulogy.

Wednesday 14th May 2025, 7-9pm, St Mary’s Chuch, Cubbington

Every Child Matters

For children who are neurodivergent (e.g. have dyslexia, autism, ADHD) churches can be a really difficult space. There are certain expectations, rules, people, lights, noise, silence that make it tricky. And yet, we are called to welcome everyone.

This session will help us think about the breadth of neurodiversity, how our church might feel for a family with additional needs and how we might make our church a more welcoming and accessible space. This session will be led by James Henney and Anna Naish.

Monday 2nd June, 7pm – 9pm, All Saints Church, Allesley.

Life and Time of the Old Testament

The Bible picture books of our childhood commonly showed the Old Testament being populated by rather scruffy people wearing a variation of Arab dress. In reality, however, they were far more stylishly and colourfully clothed. If you don’t imagine Abraham wearing a colourful and tight-fitting tunic, a tall hat and chunky gold earrings – this evening is for you.

Rob Harrison will introduce you to historical and archaeological images that will bring your mental image of the Old Testament to life.

Starting Tuesday 3rd June, 7:30pm – 9pm, Zoom

Unconscious bias awareness

We will explore why we all make assumptions and how our unconscious biases affect our actions. We will consider how we can become more conscious of our personal collection of biases and how we can be more aware of other people’s unconsidered assumptions.

The aim of this session is to get us thinking and reflecting on ourselves, our churches and the communities we are a part of.

This session will be led by Anna Naish and Neil Masih.

Thursday 12th June, 7pm – 9:30pm, St Paul’s Church, Stockingford, Nuneaton.

Using places and spaces in worship

This session will explore ways in which the physical space in which worship takes place influence’s people’s experience and engagement. As well physical space, we will also consider related factors such as sound, lighting and warmth.

This session will be led by Rob Harrison.

Wednesday 25th June, 7pm – 9pm, The Church of the Holy Ascension, Mappleborough Green.
