Dear Guest,
As we enter Holy Week, our attention turns towards the cross of Jesus: what happened there, why it happened and what it means to us.
St Paul, arriving in Corinth after a difficult and discouraging few weeks, ‘decided to know nothing among [them] but Jesus Christ, and him crucified.’ This week, we join Paul in that focus.
I wonder, if you were to design your own cross to go at the front of your house where all your neighbours can see it – what would it look like, and why?
And then, if you were to design your own cross to carry with you wherever you go, kept in your pocket or your bag – what would it look like, and why?

Children and Home
Faith is about our whole lives not just about Sunday mornings at church or Tuesday nights at Messy church. Yet, parents, grandparents and other carers do not always feel confident in talking about faith, praying or worshipping together.
This session will help you think about your ministry space (church, schools, community etc) and how you can help families to take faith home, to share with one another and to grow in confidence. There may be big things to consider, but often small actions and changes can have a big impact!
This session will be led by Anna Naish.

Flexibility has always been a vital feature of Anglican liturgy and worship, both in the content of services and in the delivery of them. This session will consider variation of pace, use of unscripted interaction, and the importance of worship leaders being sensitive and responsive to those they are leading.
This is relevant both to people beginning to explore leading in worship and those who are looking for a refresher or fresh insight as they lead.

A eulogy is an emotional part of a funeral service. It is the part where we share about the person who has died and who they were during their lifetime. It can feel daunting to write one whether you knew the person well or whether you only knew of them once they had died.
This session will be led by Anne Richards and Jo King. Anne and Jo both have a lot of experience of leading funerals and writing eulogies. They will be sharing their experiences to help you think about how to ask the right questions and to write a personalised eulogy.

This session will help you explore how we approach disagreement personally and how that may affect the conversation. We will also look at some key thoughts to keep in mind in the midst of a difficult conversation to engage in a helpful and honest way.
This session is designed for anyone; you might have a specific role in your church, work or community where there is potential for disagreement or you may be thinking more personally of friends, family and people you come across in your day to day life.

For children who are neurodivergent (e.g. have dyslexia, autism, ADHD) churches can be a really difficult space. There are certain expectations, rules, people, lights, noise, silence that make it tricky. And yet, we are called to welcome everyone.
This session will help us think about the breadth of neurodiversity, how our church might feel for a family with additional needs and how we might make our church a more welcoming and accessible space. This session will be led by James Henney and Anna Naish.

The Bible picture books of our childhood commonly showed the Old Testament being populated by rather scruffy people wearing a variation of Arab dress. In reality, however, they were far more stylishly and colourfully clothed. If you don’t imagine Abraham wearing a colourful and tight-fitting tunic, a tall hat and chunky gold earrings – this evening is for you.
Rob Harrison will introduce you to historical and archaeological images that will bring your mental image of the Old Testament to life.

We will explore why we all make assumptions and how our unconscious biases affect our actions. We will consider how we can become more conscious of our personal collection of biases and how we can be more aware of other people’s unconsidered assumptions.
The aim of this session is to get us thinking and reflecting on ourselves, our churches and the communities we are a part of.
