What is it?

A eulogy is an emotional part of a funeral service. It is the part where we share about the person who has died and who they were during their lifetime. It can feel daunting to write one whether you knew the person well or whether you only knew of them once they had died.

This session will be led by Anne Richards and Jo King. Anne and Jo both have a lot of experience of leading funerals and writing eulogies. They will be sharing their experiences to help you think about how to ask the right questions and to write a personalised eulogy. It will include discussions on your personal style and how to include the person’s personality in your writing. There will also be space to discuss how to write eulogies where there are complicated relationships, experiences and choices.

Who is it for?

This session is aimed about people who are exploring a ministry in bereavement and those who are already engaged in this ministry to reflect on and refresh your ministry.

This is a core training session for those on the Bereavement ministry Pathway (Taking Funerals stream). For more details click here.

Please note that we would not advise people attending this session if they are recently bereaved or in a process of grieving as the content can make it very difficult.

Event information

Date: Wednesday 14th May 2025

Time: 7-9pm

Venue: St Mary’s Church, Church Lane, Cubbington, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, CV32 7JT.

Car sharing

We really encourage car sharing both for the environment and because we are aware not everyone has easy access to a car or public transport. There are a couple of questions in the booking form for those that would like to offer and/or receive lifts so we can connect people who are close to one another. Please note it asks for the first 3 or 4 letters of your postcode (e.g. CV6, CV12) so we can put you in touch with relevant people.
