Something to celebrate…
On a very chilly Saturday in early January, the team at Harborough Magna, with support from the Rugby Mission Hub launched a new Outdoor Messy Church. Despite freezing fog 3 parents came along with 7 children. The team were encouraged by the turn out and are looking forward to their next session.
Outdoor Messy Church is a great option for Churches who don’t have a lot of facilities but do have a churchyard or access to other outdoor spaces nearby. Plans for Outdoor Messy church sessions, and other resources can be found on the Messy Church website here
iSingPOP partnership continuing for second year
The Diocesan Board of Education are continuing their very successful partnership with iSingPOP for a second year.
iSingPOP is a Christian charity, teaching primary school-aged children inclusive values through song and dance! Their mission is to empower children, parents, schools, churches and communities to find their voice and know they are loved. For Church of England Schools in the Diocese the DBE are funding a range of excellent events and workshops. For non-church schools, there will be a cost, but there is the potential to apply for grant funding to cover this. If you’re interested in inviting them to your school or church, then please email emma.kenyon@isingpop.com who will be happy to provide more details.
More info about iSingPOP and the work that they do can be found at isingpop.org

Something to inspire…
This TED Talk by an experienced teacher is a reminder of the importance to children of having adults in their lives who will champion their cause and be ‘for’ them. It reminds us of the impact of positive connection, and the value of consistently turning up for our young people (even when we don’t feel like it). If today is feeling tough, or you’re dreading your next session with a particular group of young people, we would encourage you to watch this video and be reminded of the impact that you have on their lives.

Something to take away…
‘We Hear You’ is a listening resource that is easy to follow and fun to do. There are four ready-to-use activities to run with Children and/or Young People.
There is then the option to feedback your findings through a simple online form (with a chance to win a £100 voucher!). The findings will help us all understand what children and young people value in their leaders and what the next generation of school and church leaders could look like.
The listening exercise was designed by the Church of England with input from the Growing Faith foundation as part of their efforts to listen to the input of children and young people, and create the leadership we need for the church of the future.
