Three BCDM modules starting in January

In January 2022 there will be two BCDM modules taking place in person and a third taking place on Zoom.

This will be the first time a BCDM module has taken place in person since the start of the pandemic.

The module ‘Creation Care’ will take place at All Saints, Emscote in Warwick on Thursdays from 7 to 9.30pm from the 13th January. At St James, Fletchamstead in Coventry, the module ‘Jesus and the Gospels’ will be taking place on Mondays from 7 to 9.30pm starting on the 10th January. Katherine Walakira will lead the module ‘The Book of Revelation’ on Zoom starting Tuesday 11th January from 2 to 4pm.

Katherine Walakira says;

“We’re really pleased to be able to bring BCDM face-to-face modules back after an extended period of running modules via Zoom only during the pandemic.  We’re increasing our offer as not only will face-to-face modules resume, but we still be running modules on Zoom in afternoons and evenings, as well as offering online modules which you can take independently, or with your small group, accessible at any time.”

Advent Retreat

Come and join Richard Cooke along with Jen and James from the Serving Christ team, as we take time to rest in God’s presence and reflect on themes of waiting and being, at the beginning of Advent.

This event is designed to be a time of peace at the beginning of what is for many in church a very busy season of serving others. This is a time of Being to prepare ourselves for all of the Doing.

Hardship grants for Warwickshire families
For churches in Warwickshire supporting vulnerable and marginalised people, Warwickshire County Council have launched two new funds for people facing hardship as a result of poverty or Covid-19.

The first is the Social Impact Fund for voluntary sector organisations to enable community-based support for those disproportionately impacted by COVID. The fund is managed by the Heart of England Community Foundation. Click here for more information.

The second is the Household Support Fund for individual families with children and other households genuinely in need of support this winter. Priority will be given to children eligible for benefits-related free school meals during school holidays. The fund is managed by Warwickshire County Council’s Local Welfare Scheme team. This induction booklet was recently produced for new members of the Diocesan Synod at the start of a new triennium.  As well as containing an overview of the work of the purpose and work of the Synod, it also gives a brief overview of diocesan strategy and the various committees there are, together with some useful abbreviations and links for further reading which others may find helpful.

CPAS: Leading with Vulnerability

There are two ends to the vulnerability ‘spectrum’: the leader who never reveals anything of their inner struggles; the leader who constantly reveals too much. Both ends are unhelpful. But how does a leader work out what ‘appropriate’ vulnerability looks like? And what if you have been damaged in the past when you have tried to express vulnerability in your leadership role?

Building on both personal experience and research into vulnerability within leadership, we explore the importance of being vulnerable, especially among Millennials, and ways to become appropriately vulnerable that reflect individual preferences and the situations we lead within.

Youth and Families Worker - St Oswald’s, Tile Hill
The ability for the Church of England to grow the Christian faith in families is key to the evangelisation of the country. The purpose of this role is to provide the dedicated time and professional input that are essential if we are to be successful in growing faith in youth and families, building on the relationships the parish already has with their local schools and community organisations, and seeking new opportunities to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus and to grow the church.

This is a full time role of 40 hours per week including attendance at Sunday worship. The role will include some evening and weekend working. The salary is £23,000 per annum.

Parish Administrator - St Paul’s, Warwick
The parish of St Paul’s, Warwick is looking to recruit a part-time Parish Administrator to provide administrative, clerical and office support to the Vicar and the work of the church.  The post holder will support and promote ministry and mission within the parish of St. Paul’s.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who possesses administrative and office management skills, is an effective multi-tasker, and able to communicate effectively with a variety of contacts.  They are looking for someone with initiative and self-confidence, who is able to meet tight deadlines, can handle confidential and sensitive information, has literacy and numeracy skills and an attention to detail.  Candidates should have experience of working in an office environment, educated to at least GCSE level or equivalent in English and Maths, be computer literate and be sympathetic to the Christian Faith.

This is a part-time role of 10 hours per week, over three mornings,  with a salary of £10 per hour.
