Bishop Christopher plants tree to mark Queen's Platinum Jubilee and COP26 A message from Bishop Christopher on the Queen’s Green Canopy and the opening of COP26: I’ve just planted this broadleaf sapling in my garden, gifted to me and to other bishops by the Bishop of Norwich, to mark Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.  It’s part of the Queen’s Green Canopy and represents our commitment to pray, speak out, and take action to ensure climate justice in the name of Christ. It is not a coincidence that I did this just as COP26 got underway.  In the lead up to this conference, I’ve been praying that our leaders would take seriously the pledges they have made, turn words into action and – as the Queen herself put it – that they would ‘rise above the politics of moment’.  As Christians, we know that God loved our entire creation into being, and as people who experience the depths of that love, we cannot help but love each other and the wider creation upon which our life depends. Bishop Christopher visits Richard Ratcliffe On 3rd November the Bishop of Coventry visited Richard Ratcliffe who is on hunger strike and camping outside the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. Bishop Christopher calls on us to pray for his wife Nazanin’s release, for Richard’s health and safety, and for the reunion of their family. Read more

Redeem our Communities - 25 November ROC (Redeeming Our Communities) has considerable experience of hosting ’ROC Conversations’ community engagement initiatives having conducted over 250 of them across the UK. Debra Green OBE, National Director of ROC explains: “The two hour event is both simple and effective. We bring statutory agencies, key community individuals and members of community groups and faith groups together to celebrate the good work taking place in the community.  Between us, we then determine where any gaps in provision may be and, critically, see what each person present can offer to bridge the gap. Diocesan News Members needed for the Vacancy in See Committee In the event of a Vacancy in the See of Coventry (ie. should we need to find a new Bishop), the Committee prepares a brief description of the diocese and puts together a statement setting out the desired profile of the new Bishop.  We are currently looking for a further four lay members and one clergy member to join the committee for a three year period from 1 January 2022. A Sweeter Christmas at Carriers of Hope Carriers of Hope are trying something a bit different this Christmas. Across as much of what they do as possible they want to promote personal choice. This year they will trial two approaches with the Christmas Party Food. (1) As in previous years they will distribute all Christmas Party Bags generously donated by their amazing supporters, (2) For each Christmas Party Bag they make themselves, they will attach a £15 gift card to something sweet …… a tin of chocolates, or a packet of biscuits, so that clients can choose their own party food.   So, if you want to help, you can choose whether to donate a ready made Christmas Party Bag; or donate some money towards the ones that they will make up by clicking here; or send £15 gift cards for any supermarket of your choice to Carriers of Hope, Unit 4B Lythalls Lane Industrial Estate, CV6 6FP. Diocesan Mission Fund Committee The term of office for the current committee comes to an end on 31st December 2021 and we are looking to appoint a new Committee for a three year period beginning on 1st January 2022. There are currently several places for laity available. Diocesan Vacancies Operations and Facilities Manager - Saints Nuneaton Together for Change (TFC) is seeking to appoint a new post to be part of the management team being set up at Saints Nuneaton to lead on the development and delivery of this ground-breaking project to impact young people in Nuneaton and bring about the three-pronged strategy of ‘Enterprise and Equip’, ‘Create and Connect’ and ‘Sport and Support’. The successful applicant will have experience of running a centre serving the local community. Key responsibilities of the Operations and Facilities Manager include: • Oversee the operational management of Saints Nuneaton, ensuring all policies and practices are up-to-date and adhered to. • Oversight of building maintenance, facilities and bookings. This includes keeping records up-to-date, including processing invoices and payments promptly. • Supporting Phase Two renovations. • Establish the hospitality offer within Saints, including oversight of the café working closely with the chef, ensuring adherence to regulations. • Providing training and supervision of placements. For more information click here. Caretaker - St Mary's, Warwick Collegiate Church of St Mary, Warwick, seeks a caretaker for minimum 9 hours per week, across 3 mornings (usually Mon, Wed, Fri). Extra hours as required depending on church activities. Responsibilities include cleaning, setting church for services and events, maintenance tasks and building security. The successful candidate must be physically fit with good maintenance/DIY skills, reliable, hard-working, able to work alone and calm under pressure. Pay £10 per hour (min £90 pw).
