Bishop's call to prayer for Ukraine

The Bishop of Coventry writes:

I write to you from the Houses of Parliament. I have been here all week. The Ukrainian Crisis has been a constant theme. Each day I’ve led prayers in the House of Lords, with the persistent threat of war in Europe lending them great urgency and poignancy.

As the week has unfolded, our worst fears have been realised and the people of Ukraine are now suffering a terrible onslaught. One of the lines from the ancient psalm I used this morning says, ‘I sought the Lord, and he heard me: yea he delivered me out of all my fears’.

So, this is the time to increase our prayer and to seek the Lord, that God’s ways of peace would prevail and break through the violence. I call on all people of prayer across Coventry and Warwickshire to join the wave of prayer that is rising in the world.

This course provides a space to think together about what it means to be called by God, to take our place in the mission of God, and to give opportunity to explore both lay and ordained Christian vocation. It will include teaching, discussion, guest speakers and some time for reflection and prayer. We hope it will be enjoyable, encouraging and helpful to you in identifying your next step, whatever that may be. It is open to all.

Daffodil Sunday At Newnham Paddox
This terrific family day out on 3rd April 2022 from 11:00 to 4:00pm will again be held at Newnham Paddox (CV23 0RA) amid carpets of daffodils, with woodland and lakeside walks in grounds designed by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown.

See displays of woodturning, enjoy music from the Dunchurch Band, the Ocho Rios Steel Band, listen to the Villagers’ Choir  and the Community Choir, watch the Jill Bartlett Dancers. Look round the many vintage tractors and cars. See the lovely alpacas, have a go at pottery, and visit the many other stalls and exhibitions including Rugby Gin, stained glass, pyrography, paintings. There will be preserves and plants for sale, locally made ice cream, fudge, Indian food, hotdogs, teas & refreshments.

Daffodil Sunday is hosted by the Friends of the Revel C of E Churches and is held on the country estate of the Earl & Countess of Denbigh, which they very generously allow the use of for the event.

Admission will be Adults £5, Children £1 (free under 5yrs).  Ample free parking for all. For more information call 01788 833 993.

Assistant to the Mission and Discipleship Team

The Diocese of Coventry is seeking to appoint an Assistant to the Mission & Discipleship Team. This post reports to the PA to the Archdeacon Missioner and is based in the diocesan offices in Coventry.

The main responsibilities are to provide excellent administrative support to the Archdeacon Missioner in the safe recruitment of priests and admin support for the wider Mission and Discipleship team to support in the growth strategy to have new worshipping communities, healthy churches and transforming communities.
