Accession Day 2022 This year’s Accession Day – 6 February 2022 – marked 70 years since The Queen acceeded to the throne on the death of her father King George VI. Her Majesty has gone on to reign longer than any other British Monarch in history, and to become a beloved figure around the world. Bishop Christopher writes: “On behalf of the Diocese of Coventry I extend our heartfelt gratitude to Her Majesty The Queen on the 70th Anniversary of Accession for seven decades of faithful service.  We assure Her Majesty of our ongoing prayers for Her health and a peaceful reign.” A Prayer ALMIGHTY God, who rulest over all the kingdoms of the world, and dost order them according to thy good pleasure: We yield thee unfeigned thanks, for that thou wast pleased, as on this day, to set thy Servant our Sovereign Lady, Queen ELIZABETH, upon the Throne of this Realm. Let thy wisdom be her guide, and let thine arm strengthen her; let truth and justice, holiness and righteousness, peace and charity, abound in her days; direct all her counsels and endeavours to thy glory, and the welfare of her subjects; give us grace to obey her cheerfully for conscience sake, and let her always possess the hearts of her people; let her reign be long and prosperous, and crown her with everlasting life in the world to come; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. The Lord's Prayer Racial Justice Sunday is an opportunity for all of us to reflect on our faith and how we put it into practice. The Lords Prayer teaches us how to pray and it is used during Sunday Worship and daily in different languages around the world at the start of the day, at the dinner table and in the evening. We have created videos of The Lord’s Prayer being spoken in French, Hindi, Punjabi and Swahili. God call us from every nation to join him in prayer, song and worship and it is fitting that Christians embrace the different styles of worship and prayer. In doing so we can all recognize the importance of understanding that God welcomes all to the heavenly feast where (there will be) ‘a great multitude that no-one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. (Rev 7 v9) Let us unite in Christs Love on Racial Justice Sunday and always. Basic Video Editing Training Would you like to learn video editing skills to enhance your church’s online worship and social media evangelism? According to tech giants Cisco, video will account for over 82% of internet traffic this year. Mark, the Digital Mission Enabler from the Serving Christ team, is running several two hour long, free training sessions. They will take place on  Monday 14th February via Zoom, and Tuesday 15th February face-to-face at St. Michael’s Church, Budbrooke. Living Generously Workshop Recording What does it mean to live generously? Why does it matter? This year the Diocese team are exploring how we can respond to Christ’s generous act of love on the cross by living generous lives ourselves. We are currently creating a range of resources and ideas for the Lent and Easter season that you can use and adapt to your context. This will include materials to use in small groups, prayer days, personal devotion and services. Jen and Anna (from the Serving Christ project) ran a ‘Living Generously’ workshop on 27th January, to share the resources and create a space to share ideas and think about how they might work in your context. Diocesan News All is True (Henry VIII) by William Shakespeare and John Fletcher On Thursday 10 March from 7pm till 10:30pm, come join a play-reading of All is True (Henry VIII) by William Shakespeare and John Fletcher, led by the Bishops of Coventry and Warwick in the ballroom of Stratford-upon-Avon Town Hall, and part of a community fundraiser, Shakespeare’s Coming Home! Donations are welcome and will go towards the restoration of Shakespeare’s statue that David Garrick gave the people of Stratford-upon-Avon in 1769. Organised by Rev. Dr Paul Edmondson.
