This course will introduce you to the Coventry story, its present expression, and the theology, theory and practical application of that story for today in the life of individuals and the local church.
14th January – 11th February, 7pm-9pm, Coventry Cathedral
This session will be led by Anne Richards and Jo King. Anne and Jo both have a lot of experience of both visiting and leading funerals. They will be sharing experiences and ideas about how to be sensitive and lead these visits well and what you personally might bring to those visits.
There will also be space to discuss some key things that might arise, such as when the death has been complex or when the relationships were not easy.
Wednesday 22nd January, 7pm – 9pm, St Barnabas Church, Kenilworth,
This course is open to all. It provides a space to think together about what it means to be called by God, to take our place in the mission of God, and to give opportunity to explore both lay and ordained Christian vocation.
It will include teaching, discussion, guest speakers and some time for reflection and prayer. We hope it will be enjoyable, encouraging and helpful to you in identifying your next step, whatever that may be.
5 Wednesday sessions, 22nd January – 19th February, 7:30pm – 9:30pm, All Saints, Emscote,
Children are not just the future of the church, they are also the present church. For children in our church (and those who haven’t come along yet), it is really important to consider how they are part of the life of the whole church.
During this session we will cover key areas such as having relevant (and manageable) worship provision, the importance of rhythms, spaces for their voice to be heard and opportunities for relationship. These will also be discussed from your starting point so come as you are to learn and share.
Monday 3rd February, 7pm – 9pm, St Paul’s Church, Foleshill,
Preaching is about more than the time we are talking but takes time, prayer and planning before hand. This session will be full of practical guidance on how to shape a theme, structure a sermon, make appropriate notes, and prepare yourself for preaching.
This session will be led by Rob Harrison.
Wednesday 5th February, 7pm – 9pm, St Francis, Radford
When we meet with others we often navigating our own boundaries and theirs. We want the other person to feel loved, listened to and comfortable and we want to feel the same. This session will be led by Anna Naish and Lou Peet and will explore key areas such as:
Physical boundaries, so everyone feels safe and comfortable; Energy and time, so that we can serve God and have space to rest and rest in him; Finances and gifts, so we don’t give or receive more than we should; Faith conversations, Bible verses and prayer, how, when and when not to offer them; Saying no, whatever our boundaries we need to feel confident saying no.
