What is it?

This is an interactive course designed for you to complete independently online – you can dip in and out of the course whenever you like, at your own convenience and you can take as much time as you like to do the course.

What’s the point of Advent? Is it just the run up to Christmas or is there more? Come and join us this Advent as we rediscover the deep wisdom of this season and how themes of coming, waiting and expectation are presented in the Bible. Uncover the true meaning of Advent and how it characterises our life all the way through the year.

The learning objectives of this course are:

– To grasp the true meaning of the Advent season as a time of expectantly waiting.
– To explore the themes of coming and waiting in the Bible.
– To gain a new dimension to your personal relationship with God through expectation in daily life.

Course information

This course is split into five sessions which each take around two hours to complete. The sessions are:

Session 1 – Tradition: Advent in the Church
Session 2 – Looking Backwards: Advent in the Old Testament
Session 3 – Looking Forwards: Advent in the New Testament
Session 4 – Waiting: Advent in the World
Session 5 – Coming: Advent in your Life
