What is it?
The ‘New Worshipping Community Taster Day’ on 21 October 2023 will be a different kind of event; exploring the ancient missional tradition of the Church, in a fresh and exciting way.
Instead of the usual conference full of information, we are planning a day of interactive worship sessions in a variety of styles, with opportunities to meet other like-minded leaders, and times to reflect on our personal call to mission.
Across the day, we will showcase a number of different types of New Worshipping Communities, providing opportunities to experience these models first hand. There will also be time set aside to talk with experienced practitioners about their journeys from having the vision to making it a reality.
The day will be hosted by Archdeacon Barry Dugmore, along with a collection of experienced leaders who will provide input and facilitate discussion as we explore together what makes a New Worshipping Community, and what it might look like in your church or parish.
Who is it for?
Clergy, Lay leaders and their families are all encouraged to come. We have designed this event to be interactive, experiential and fun; so that everyone can engage with the content and get something out of the day. When starting something new, there will be people going on this journey with you, and it’s important that they are excited about and invested in the plan too! So all ages are welcome, and there will be plenty of fun (and food) for everyone.
If you are a lay person, and feel that God is calling you to start something new, but aren’t sure exactly what it will look like, then this day is for you;
If you have a great idea for a New Worshipping Community, and want to discern the next steps, then this day is for you!
If you’re a church leader, with a heart to release other leaders into starting something new, then this day will be a great opportunity to bring them along and inspire them, and dream together about what could be!
