St Matthew’s, Salford Priors Count on Nature

St Matthew’s Church Salford Priors has been full of activity! As part of the ‘Churches Count on Nature’ initiative, they have had visits from the Salford Beavers, Rainbows, Brownies as well as a whole KS1 trip from Salford Priors Academy. Including their own Muddy Church meet up, they have had over 90 children visit their churchyard to spot trees, lichen, birds, insects and plants.

Churches Count on Nature is a joint initiative promoted by Caring for God’s Acre, A Rocha UK, the Church of England and the Church in Wales. Between the 4th to the 12th June, the count brought local people together to discover the wildlife in their local church yard. They recorded the species they found, combining their results with others which was collated on the Beautiful Burial Ground portal within the National Biodiversity Network (NBN), a nationwide database of wildlife in the UK.

St Edith's, Monks Kirby gets £59,229 grant

St Edith’s Church in Monks Kirby has good reason to celebrate, as it has received a £59,229 grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, made possible by money raised by National Lottery players.

The much-needed funding now means church members can proceed with the urgent stonework repairs to the pinnacles on the church tower. Work is expected to start in early July.

Alongside the repair work, the Heritage Fund has given funding for a number of heritage engagement activities (both digital and in person) which all celebrate the ‘architectural gem’ that St Edith’s Church represents. The range of planned activities were inspired by local villagers who gave suggestions about how they would best like to explore St Edith’s unique heritage.

The celebration officially kicks off on Sunday 10th July between 2.00-5.00pm with a free-of-charge open afternoon and tea party which St Edith’s Church. During the open afternoon, visitors will also be able to help make a replica LEGO® model of St Edith’s Church which has been specially commissioned as part of the celebrations and will comprise over 15,000 LEGO® bricks! People will also be able to explore the church using a newly refreshed family heritage trail, try out bell-ringing, see some of the newly-developed digital and hard-copy heritage interpretation products, whilst listening to a short musical performance given by The St Andrew’s Community Choir.

Growing the Heart of England – Roadshow

St Edith’s Church, Monks Kirby Open Afternoon and Tea Party
St Edith’s Church, Monks Kirby warmly invites all to celebrate the heritage of their church at a free Open Afternoon and Tea Party on Sunday 10th July from 2pm till 5pm.

You can help build a bespoke replica model of St Edith’s Church, made with 15,000+ LEGO® bricks!  Enjoy the newly refreshed heritage trail and guided tours, have a go at bell-ringing, discover St Edith’s Heritage through their brand new digital and hard-copy resources and see St Andrew’s Community Choir.
Dedication of Extension to St Botolph's, Burton Hastings
The extension to St Botolph’s church is now complete. The extension, containing an accessible WC and a servery enables the church to be open not just for services but also for a variety of events, as a community space for the village and as a quiet place for all.

You’re welcome to attend the service of dedication for St Botolph’s extension, conducted by the Bishop of Warwick at 7pm on 28th June.
City Praise & Prayer - Autumn 2022
Following the amazing gathering in the Cathedral Ruins in May, we are pleased to confirm the date of the next City Praise & Prayer in the Autumn.

It will be taking place at 6:30pm on Sunday 13th November, hosted at CLM Church for a significant evening of praise and united prayer for Coventry and beyond. It will be important to strengthen our unity and maintain our momentum in united prayer.
Free Leaders’ Lunch at St Laurence’s Church, Foleshill
The Mission Hub at St Laurence’s, Foleshill was launched earlier this month. To begin their work supporting churches, they are hosting a leaders’ lunch at the vicarage at St Laurence’s, 142 Old Church Road, Coventry, CV6 7ED, on Thursday 30th June from 12.30pm to 3pm.

This will be an opportunity to start conversations about what God is doing in your context and explore how the Mission Hub team can support this.

Carbon Reduction Grants for Warwickshire
Warwickshire County Council has re-opened its Green Shoots fund for projects that reduce carbon emissions. Grants can be up to £25,000. Projects could reduce energy consumption or waste in church buildings or improve biodiversity in churchyards. All projects must engage local communities and be ‘shovel ready’. Preference will be given to Nuneaton and North Warwickshire. The deadline for applications is Monday 19 September 2022. In the last round, St George’s Rugby received £20,000 for roof-mounted solar panels.

Church Toddler Groups Leaders and Supporters Gathering
This is a chance for church toddler group teams to meet, share ideas, encourage one another and pray for each other’s groups.

The gathering will take place at St Mary’s Church Centre, Leamington Spa, Cv31 1JW on Wednesday 29th June from 12:30pm till 1:30pm.

Transforming Conflict Course
This is the last call for applications for this year’s “Transforming Conflict” course. The course gives space to addressing an issue that is very widespread, that many of us find challenging, and that can also be a source of great growth and energy.

This is one of the most popular courses run by the the West Midlands regional CDM group, and places are limited.

New Choir at St Mary, Clifton upon Dunsmore
A new choir that has formed in St Mary’s church in Clifton upon Dunsmore. The choir, aged between 9 and 11 was formed from students at Clifton upon Dunsmore CofE primary school.

Hannah Kent, who teaches them in school, joined with Gordon Croft, the organist at church who together lead and direct the choir.

The dress code is a polo shirt with a badge that they themselves designed.

What is exciting is the organic nature of the process. When students move into senior school they have the opportunity to continue with the choir whilst students moving into Y5 have the opportunity to join.
Volunteering Opportunity with Iona Community
Ever thought of joining the team on Iona?

They have a few short-term volunteer spaces, for specific roles, at Iona Abbey this summer.

The Abbey team welcomes guests from many countries to Iona each week to explore issues of common concern – including the environment, peace-building, poverty and inequality, racism, refugees, inclusion and diversity, interfaith dialogue. They work together, they worship together and they share meals as part of their common life.

Associate Minister House for Duty, Benefice of Alcester Minster
The Parishes of the Alcester Minster Benefice are looking to appoint an Associate Minister (House for Duty) to work alongside the Rector and other members of our growing team.

The benefice has been designated one of Coventry Diocese’s six Mission Hubs. Their role is to resource, enable and facilitate mission activity in creative ways, growing confidence and taking initiatives that support parishes across the area to reimagine church in our post COVID society.

We welcome applications from capable priests who can support the role as stated above and who are:

– collaborative, a team player, able to provide clear but empowering support for the ongoing development of the Minster as we share Christ’s life and love with the communities we serve.

– Experienced, in developing a pastoral care strategy, possessing the energy and enthusiasm to inspire future growth in existing and emerging contexts of the Minster.

Lead Fundraiser - Coventry Cathedral
21 hours a week
Salary: £29,232 pa pro rata. (actual salary of £17,539 for 21 hours / week)

Coventry Cathedral is looking for a P/T (21 hours per week) Lead Fundraiser to raise funds to support the Cathedral’s business, operations and projects across all areas, with a focus on project fundraising.

Duties include developing and delivering an effective fundraising plan for the Cathedral. Working on campaigns, bids and applications to deliver income from a wide variety of income streams and to line manage the donor manager, volunteers or contractors as required in the delivery of the fundraising plan.

Closing date 14 July 2022 with interviews provisionally scheduled for 25 July 2022.
