About Difference

Difference is a movement that centres on three habits: Be Curious; Be Present; and Reimagine. Rooted in the life and teaching of Jesus Christ and in the lived experience of expert peacemakers, these habits can transform everyday relationships. The course gives participants the chance to develop the habits and start applying them to their own lives.

Our habits matter. 45% of our daily actions are habitual and neuroscientists have estimated that up to 95% of our behaviours are controlled (at least in part) by the subconscious mind. If we can shape our habits, this can have a deep and lasting impact on our actions, thoughts and, ultimately, our character.

The content of the sessions is non-issue based because the skills and practices within it are relevant for any difference. It is brilliant in itself but can also be a good stepping stone to get you thinking about differences your faced with and introducing ways of navigating them, before focussing on a specific issue.

The practice of the three reconciling habits taught within, can have an impact on our everyday lives and relationships. Affect how we relate to people and the life of the communities that we’re part off.

One participant has said:

‘I feel that we’re called to look beyond those differences and re-learn how to be deeply curious, even about people whose perspectives we may find offensive or hurtful – to reimagine the nature of conversations, of relationships, of community, and to be deeply present to one another, even those we differ hugely from.’
