What is it?
Of all the books that make up the ancient Jewish scriptures, Isaiah is the one that Jesus quoted most often – particularly when he was explaining why he was doing things the way that he did. However, the book of Isaiah is very much more than just a foretaste of Jesus’ life and ministry; it is a social, political and theological commentary on nearly four centuries Israelite history, as the writer(s) observed and foresaw the role God was playing in the rise and fall of kingdoms and empires.
In this five-week Zoom course, Rob Harrison will introduce the man, Isaiah, and his core messages, show how his insight was applied over three very distinct phases of Jewish history, and explore how the prophetic ministry of Isaiah resonates with, and inspired, the life and teaching of Jesus. Through all of that we will consider how the insights of Isaiah inform our understanding of the religion and politics of our own time.
The Zoom sessions will take place on Monday evenings from 11th January. Recordings of these sessions will be available for those who are registered on the course but not able to attend on Monday evenings.

This course is open to anyone interested.
