The Conflict Transformation group (CTG) is a collective of lay and clergy volunteers who support parishes and communities where help is needed in responding to conflict. Members of the CTG work together with parish/community groups to find solutions to the issues at hand.
Who are we looking for?
People who are passionate about healthy communities and relationships, who have abilities and qualities that can hold spaces for others where trust can be built.
What is involved?
As part of the CTG you would become part of a Community of Practice. Once trained and assessed, CTG members work in pairs offering facilitative mediation in conflict situations in the Diocese.

Lay and clergy from Coventry Diocese.
Are you a lay person who thinks this might be for you? Discuss this with your incumbent/priest in charge. If, between you, this feels like a good way forward, then your incumbent needs to recommend you by emailing emma.crickdeboom@coventry.anglican.org
This group of trainees will join an existing group of 17 members. This training will give up to 8 new members the opportunity to join.
Training and formation
Initial training is completed across 5 months, in person, modules. Venue to be confirmed.
This to be followed by Bi-Monthly Community of Practice, Peer Sessions – Facilitator-led sessions to look at topics arising from casework and space for peer support. You will be invited to join these sessions regularly once you have gone through an assessment which takes place during the last full training day modules at the end of the 5 month period.
Course information Sep 2025 – Jan 2026
- Initial training: 2 whole Saturdays 6th and 13th Sept 2025
- Continuing training: whole Saturday 11th Oct
- One evening peer learning session –  2 hours  Tues 28th OctÂ
- Evening peer session – 2 hours Tues 25th Nov
- Evening peer session – 2 hours Tues 9th Dec
- Conclusion of course: whole Saturdays 17th and 24th Jan 2026
All of these dates need to be attended to complete the initial program in order to progress to the deployment and mentoring phase
Saturday timings tend to be around 09:30 – 16:30 or 10:00 – 17:00. There may be slight variables.
Cost: Fully funded spaces for successful candidates.
Out trainers – Place for Hope
Place for Hope accompanies and equips people and faith communities so that all might reach their potential to be peacemakers who navigate conflict, change and differences well.
After training is completed, our practitioners work in pairs and offer impartial facilitative mediation. They create spaces where everyone feels heard and wherever possible relationships are strengthened.
Discernment process:
The aim of the discernment process is to discern if the candidate would be a mutual fit and are naturally suited to the main objective of the CTG group. The qualities sought after are named in the registration form and will be reflected on in the interview.
The panel will assess if candidates should be recommended for training.
All candidates will be:
1. Invited to an informal ‘Info and Q&A’ session on Zoom with Emma Crick de Boom
- The purpose of the CTG
- Expectations of members
- Support given to members
- Steps to complete the Discernment process
2. Required to engage in a safer recruitment process
- Fill in a candidate registration form
- Provide two references
- Attend a one-hour interview with two CTG panellists
