What is it?

This Zoom course will explore the culture and politics behind the story of the New Testament. Rabbis being closely followed by eager disciples was a common sight in ancient Israel – how did Jesus relate to that culture? What was going on in Jerusalem which led to Jesus being crucified? What was the Christian Church in the Acts of the Apostles really like? What were the synagogues like that Paul attended, and how come he was invited to preach on his first visit.

In this course we will reimagine the stories of the New Testament with more accurate images, and gain a better understanding of why things worked out as they did.

Rob Harrison has researched and written about 1st century Judaism and the emergence of Christianity.
