What is the Pathway?
This Pathway focusses on the key areas that help children grow in faith (having a voice, developing relationships, rhythms and creating purpose) not just in church but across their whole lives. Over the course of the Pathway we explore these areas and how they might look in your current and future context. It will help you to reflect on your current practice and consider small changes that make a big difference as well as encouraging us to think about what is next. Participants will be able to share ideas and learn from one another…and then return to our own spaces and learn from our children and youth too.
The Children, Youth and Families Pathway is aimed at any lay minister leading children and accompanying them as they explore faith, it might be in church, in school or in the community. It is open to those who are employed and who are volunteers. You can work with children, youth, families or a combination. It is not aimed at a particular tradition, number of children or context because all are welcome.
Please note that all required training for Pathways participants are also open to anyone as individual session for those interested in a specific topic.
What is involved?
Completing the Pathway includes:
- The learning, training and formation below.
- Practical experience organised by the participant and their incumbent – opportunities to explore and grow in this ministry.
It takes a minimum of one year to complete, but you can join at any point in the year and take longer if you would like. Sessions are spread across the year to give you time to reflect and embed the skills and learning you take away from them.

More information…
Each of the learning courses and training events are open to anyone to book. You might book as a taster, invite a team or want to refresh your ministry. You can find them all on the Equip hub.
To join this Pathway your vicar (or Churchwarden if you are in vacancy) will need to email Pathways@Coventry.Anglican.org with a short recommendation. At this point we will register you onto the Pathway and send you details for the formation group.
