Diocesan News Screening of Lyra at Coventry Cathedral Lyra is an emotive, intimate film on the life and death of acclaimed young Northern Irish journalist Lyra McKee, whose murder by the New IRA in April 2019 sent shock waves across the world. With this year marking the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, Lyra invites us to consider the experience of young people in Northern Ireland, where deep divisions continue, and where reconciliation is still awaited. The screening will take place at Coventry Cathedral on 18th March 2023 at 7pm and will  be followed by a Q&A panel with, amongst others, Lyra’s sister, Nichola McKee Corner and the film’s producer, Jackie Doyle. Earthquake Appeal In the wake of Monday’s terrible earthquake Embrace’s Christian partners are doing what they can, but they need resources.  Their partners are already there on the ground and so can respond effectively and flexibly. They can reach difficult places and know these communities well. They need funds to buy blankets, mattresses, medicine, cooking utensils, food parcels and water. Diocesan Vancancies Together for Change - Trustee Together for Change works in partnership with churches, charities and local agencies to develop projects that will bring positive change to their communities. Their focus is to work in deprived communities and support creative and innovative projects to alleviate poverty. They’re looking to expand their expertise and diversify the Board of Trustees with 2 new Board members. These are voluntary positions. The expected overall time commitment for a trustee is on average 1 day per month. Together for Change are particularly looking for applications from people with knowledge or expertise in the following areas: – Fundraising – An ability to provide strategic overview of financial resources – At least one of our core themes, including; refugees and asylum seekers, elderly, family work and reaching deprived communities. Associate Minister - Bedworth Mission Hub Church in the Diocese of Coventry The Diocese of Coventry is recruiting a new Associate Minister, fully funded at incumbent level with housing, for an initial period of five years. This is part of an exciting and adventurous mission strategy to see healthy churches propagate, plant, or graft 150 new worshipping communities over the next ten years. Bedworth is a town located 5 miles north of Coventry. The town has a population of 32000 and the parish covers the town. There are two churches in the parish. The larger church in the town centre is All Saints, and a smaller church, St. Andrew’s. All Saint’s is a lively growing church with a variety of ages meeting across three Sunday congregations. St. Andrew’s is a small church mainly comprising of an elderly congregation with a range of new projects underway to enable it to grow and become part of the community again. Our vision is that over the next 10 years every person in Bedworth has the opportunity to have the good news of Jesus presented & demonstrated to them. We want to do this by planting churches and missional communities across our parish. So, we are looking for an Associate Vicar that can work within the predominantly evangelical charismatic theology of the parish, who enjoys motivating a large team to plant & grow new worshipping communities & who lives life to the full. They have a small but dynamic team, whose focus is on reaching and engaging the local community, particular people on the fringes of society or at risk of being left behind. Their vision is to transform the local community with the radical love of Jesus Christ. They are looking for a Youth Worker who is passionate about improving the life chances of young people from diverse and challenging backgrounds. External Vacancies Finance Administrator - Feed the Hungry UK Feed the Hungry UK is an international charity supporting projects across the world and in the UK. They have feeding projects in several countries including Kenya, Zimbabwe and Zambia. They provide emergency relief when needed as they have done recently in Ukraine. They are currently recruiting a Finance Administrator to assist in the day-to-day administration of Feed the Hungry UK’s financial and accounting processes and to provide administration support for ongoing projects.
